Since we looked at Buckingham Palace yesterday, we will look at the Queen's weekend home today - Windsor Castle.  Again, no photography was allowed inside, but we took tons of pictures of the grounds and architecture, which were incredible!!  Here are some pictures:

Today the weather was INCREDIBLE!! It was about 50 degrees, the skies were clear all day. It was just astonishing. We loved every second of it.

We ventured out of London into Windsor to see Windsor Castle. =) Windsor Castle is considered to be the Queen's "weekend home." She uses this residence when she is not at Buckingham Palace. We wandered around outside for a bit, then we toured the state rooms. It was absolutely beautiful! We weren't allowed to take pictures inside sadly, but the rooms were just spectacular. The train ride out was fun as well. It was interesting to see the English countryside.

We were also able to tour St. George's Chapel, which was beyond amazing!! Again, no pictures were allowed inside. The building is incredibly old (though I can't remember now how old) and has a TON of English history within its walls. Here we were able to see the resting places of the Queen Mother, King George V (Queen Elizabeth's father), Henry VIII, and Queen Jane Seymour (Henry's third wife) as well as many others.

When we finished our tour of Windsor Castle, we wandered around the city of Windsor, which was quaint and beautiful as well. Everywhere we went, we could always see the castle off in the distance. Before re-boarding the train, we stopped for Starbucks! =) It's nearly the same as in America, however the offerings are different. Terri had normal black tea, but Ashley tried the raspberry and black current frappacino, which was awesome! We also did a little shopping in Windsor and picked up some new clothes.

After dropping our goodies off at the hotel, we ventured back out to Oxford Street, which is the shopping mecca of London (aside from Harrods, of course). The entire street is lined with shop after shop. All of the shops are very modern and stylish, so it was fun to look around. =)

Finally, we stopped for dinner at Garfunkles before heading home for the night. Terri had Macaroni Cheese (no "and" in England... hahaha) and Ashley had a ham dish, which, surprise!, was served with a fried egg on top. I'm beginning to think the English eat A LOT of eggs!

Tomorrow it's off to Kensington Palace, the home of Princess Diana before she died, and Westminster Abbey and Cathedral. Should be lots of fun! =)
